The quality of education in the creative education system in educational institutions in Tarash, Chalanbeel is poor
  Date : 06-06-2025

Mirza Abdur Rob Bulbul, Staff Reporter: Chalanbeel is formed by rivers, canals and beels. The historical Chalanbeel of Bangladesh is well-known to the people of the whole country as a storehouse of grain and fish. Currently, the literacy rate of Tarash Upazila is 65% on paper because in the past, all educational institutions in Tarash Upazila were taught by skilled and experienced teachers and were managed by an impartial management committee, so the quality of education was much better than the current education and many people said that many famous and reputable people were produced by taking education from these educational institutions. But in the present time, there is a great shortage of skilled and experienced teachers for the creative education system, and the quality of education is getting worse day by day because the school management committee is formed for political reasons. In addition, the heads of educational institutions and members of the management committee are not following many government rules and regulations. If this situation continues, experts believe that Tarash Upazila will lose its status as an educated township due to the evolution of time, becoming devoid of talent. It is reported that Tarash Upazila has 4 degree colleges, 2 higher secondary colleges, 30 secondary schools, 1 lower secondary girls` school, 2 Fazil Madrasas, 2 Alim Madrasas, 16 Dakhil Madrasas, 1 government secondary girls` school, 1 government higher secondary college, 3 technical high schools, and 7 technical colleges. Approximately 16,000 (fourteen) thousand students are studying in the institutions. Investigations have shown that most of the educational institutions do not hold regular classes. Many teachers are continuing tuition during school hours without any problems, showing their disregard for government rules and regulations. In addition, there are a group of teachers who are doing journalism by skipping classes in educational institutions, which is an external manifestation of ethics, according to the elders of the area. It has been found in the investigation that most educational institutions have not appointed teachers/employees on the basis of merit but have appointed them on commercial and political grounds. The heads of several educational institutions, who did not wish to be named, said that even though the teachers did not qualify the students to participate in the final examination, the students who failed had to be given the opportunity to participate in the final examination due to pressure from political leaders and management committees and in the interest of retaining their jobs. In order to do this, most of the heads of institutions have to resort to lies. The head of a reputable educational institution in the upazila, who did not wish to be named, said that if the appointment of teachers in educational institutions was stopped based on political considerations, honest, qualified and talented people were appointed, and the management committees of the institutions could be freed from political influence, it might be possible to improve education. Parents and teachers must play an active role in getting students to school and college. Every teacher should be responsible for the development of the institution by leaving aside the thought of tuition and fulfilling his own responsibilities and duties, besides, the officials entrusted by the government and the president of the management committee and other members should regularly visit the institutions as per routine. When contacted directly with Tarash Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Abdus Salam in this regard, he very sincerely told this reporter that if any irregularities are observed in any educational institution, it will be strictly prevented after investigation.
