  Date : 15-06-2025

At least five people were killed and 15 others injured early Saturday (June 14) when a passenger bus rammed into a parked truck in Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district.

The accident took place around 4:30 am in the Nurjahanpur area on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway, said police.

The identities of the deceased and injured are yet to be confirmed, but all are believed to be passengers of the bus.

According to police and local sources, several mango-laden trucks were parked by the roadside at the time of the accident. A Dhaka-bound Nabil Paribahan bus, which had departed from Panchagarh, crashed into a stationary truck.

"Five people were killed on the spot, and several others sustained injuries," said Nazmul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ghoraghat Police Station.

"Rescue operations were carried out by police and fire service personnel, and the injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment," he also said.

Of the injured, five have been admitted to the hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway, police said.
