As sweltering heat continues to torment lives across Bangladesh, the Meteorological Department has forecast very heavy rainfall in various parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka, for the next three consecutive days.
The agency also warned of potential landslides in the hilly areas of five southeastern districts.
This information was released in a heavy rainfall warning on Saturday (June 14) evening.
The warning states that due to active Southwest Monsoon winds, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in various places across the Chattogram, Barishal, Khulna, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Dhaka, and Rajshahi divisions for the 72 hours starting from Monday (June 16) at 10 AM.
Furthermore, the alert indicates that landslides are possible in some hilly areas of Chittagong, Rangamati, Khagrachari, Bandarban, and Cox`s Bazar districts due to the very heavy rainfall.
Alongside this, temporary waterlogging may occur in many areas of Dhaka and Chattogram metropolitan cities due to the heavy downpour.
