Bangladesh Freed After Fascist`s Escape: Tarique Rahman
  Date : 05-08-2025

Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), stated that Bangladesh has been liberated from an era of terror and autocracy following the escape of the "fascist" ruler on this day in 2024.

He made these remarks in a video message released on Tuesday morning (August 5) to mark Mass Uprising Day.

"August 5. Exactly one year ago today, the fascist fled Bangladesh. Bangladesh has been freed," Tarique Rahman said. "For the people who love freedom and democracy, this is a day of joy. It is a day of victory."

He added that the interim government has declared this day, a day of a "liberated Bangladesh," as `July Mass Uprising Day`. The people of a "subservient-free Bangladesh" will celebrate this day every year as a joyful public holiday, he said, and will be inspired by a new commitment to freedom and democratic political rights.
