kamrul Hasan: BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is a shining example of talent development in various fields including education, literature and culture, sports and craftsmanship, said Aminul Haque, former captain of the national football team, Sports Affairs Secretary of the BNP Central Executive Committee, convener of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP and candidate for the Paddy Sheesh of Dhaka-16 constituency.
He made this comment in response to questions from journalists after the process of ensuring Sidratul Muntaha`s participation in the International Chess Championship in Chasha area of Narayanganj on Wednesday afternoon.
Aminul Haque said that Bangladesh`s chess champion Sidratul Muntaha will participate in the Under-12 girls` category of the FIDE World Cadet Chess Championship 2025, which will start in Kazakhstan on September 18. However, due to lack of sponsors for travel and accommodation and financial difficulties, his participation was uncertain.
Stating that Muntaha had enhanced the reputation of the country by successfully participating in international chess competitions in India and the United Arab Emirates at a young age, Aminul Haque said that it is the state and social responsibility to ensure support for talented athletes who can raise the country`s flag in the international arena.
He said that after learning about Muntaha`s talent, Tarique Rahman ordered immediate action to ensure his participation. "Tarique Rahman is setting a rare example by standing by the poor and talented to develop the country`s education, health, medical care and to make the next generation skilled, which is also worthy of praise at the international level."
Promising to stand by every talented player, Aminul Haque also said that if BNP is elected in the future, the sports department of the "New Buds" launched on the initiative of martyred President Ziaur Rahman will be re-launched and sports will be made mandatory in the national curriculum. Permanent employment opportunities will be created by building BKSP branches in every divisional city of the country, establishing independent sports universities and appointing experienced players as teachers.
He called on everyone to implement the 31-point plan to repair the state structure announced by BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to fulfill the dream of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and to remain united for the welfare of the country and sought everyone`s prayers for the good health and long life of the country`s leader Begum Khaleda Zia. Leaders of the central, Dhaka metropolitan and metropolitan north BNP and its affiliates were present at the time.
