International Desk: China’s efforts in the development and application of renewable energy are clearly visible worldwide, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Thursday, January 22, at a regular press briefing in Beijing.
Responding to recent remarks by former U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting that China manufactures many wind turbines but lacks wind farms, spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that China has established the world’s most comprehensive carbon-emissions reduction policy framework as well as the largest renewable energy system, while actively sharing the benefits of green development with the global community.
China has ranked first in the world in installed wind power capacity for 15 consecutive years, the spokesperson noted. As of November, the country’s total installed wind power capacity had exceeded 600 million kilowatts. During the period of the 14th Five-Year Plan, China’s exports of wind power and photovoltaic products helped other countries reduce carbon emissions by approximately 4.1 billion tonnes.
The spokesperson emphasized that, as a responsible developing country, China remains committed to promoting global green and low-carbon transformation and is willing to work with all parties to jointly build a clean and beautiful world.
