Bangladesh to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha on May 28

(BSS) - Eid-ul-Azha, the second largest religious festival of Muslims, will be observed on May 28 as moon of the holy month of Zil Hajj of Hijri year 1447 was sighted in the skies of Bangladesh today.

The counting of the holy month of Zil Hajj will begin tomorrow as Eid-ul Azha is celebrated on the 10th day of Zil Hajj, said a press release.

This decision was taken today during a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram with Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain (Kaikobad) in the chair.

Officials concerned were present in the meeting.

Muslims across the country will observe the festival with religious fervour through offering Eid prayers and sacrificing animals in remembrance of the devotion of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
