A fire that broke out at a two-storey market in Bijoy Sarani area of the capital early Monday, has been brought under control with the swift response from multiple Fire Service units.
Md Anwarul Islam, media cell officer of the Fire Service headquarters, said that they were able to distinguish the blaze approximately 7AM.
He added, the fire originated on the ground floor of the market located at Kolmi Lata Bazar in the Bijoy Sarani intersection area. A total of 10 firefighting units from Tejgaon, Mohammadpur, Mirpur and Siddikbazar fire stations were deployed to bring the blaze under control.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Mahmudul Hasan, Director (Operations and Maintenance) of FSCD, said the extent of damage could not be immediately determined.
``The cause of the fire and the amount of losses will be ascertained after an investigation,`` he added.
