International: Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin have reached a consensus to uphold the spirit of the “Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between China and Russia.” The understanding was reached during a meeting held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
During the talks, President Xi noted that 25 years ago, China and Russia signed the landmark treaty, which has served as a legal foundation for the long-term development of good-neighborly relations and comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries. Since then, bilateral relations have achieved remarkable progress.
Xi Jinping further stated that the international landscape is currently undergoing profound changes, with the world facing the risk of returning to a “jungle law” era marked by power politics. Against this backdrop, the value of the China–Russia friendship treaty—its strategic significance, sound theoretical basis, and practical relevance—has become increasingly evident.
