Zakir Hossin, Pirojpur: To mark the 45th death anniversary of BNP founder and former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, food packages were distributed among 2,000 underprivileged and disadvantaged people in Pirojpur on Friday.
The distribution programme was held on Friday (June 19) at the Pirojpur Town Club ground. It was organized by Gazi Wahiduzzaman Loblu, former Member Secretary of the Pirojpur District BNP and President of the Pirojpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Speaking at the event, Lovlu said the food assistance was being provided from his personal funds for underprivileged residents of all nine wards of the Pirojpur municipality in observance of Ziaur Rahman`s 45th death anniversary.
He added that such humanitarian initiatives would continue in the future.
Among those present were Bir Muktijoddha Abdus Salam Baten, President of the District Sramik Dal; Afzal Hossain Tipu, General Secretary of the District Sramik Dal; Emdadul Haque Masud, Member Secretary of the District Jubo Dal; Gazi Kamruzzaman Shuvro, a leader of the Sadar Upazila BNP, along with leaders and activists of the BNP and its associate bodies.
According to the organizers, each package included rice, lentils, edible oil, salt, onions and potatoes, and was distributed among 2,000 underprivileged residents across the municipality`s nine wards.
The programme concluded with a special prayer seeking eternal peace for the departed soul of former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman.
