Bashir Al Mamun In Ctg : Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said that the China Economic and Industrial Zone (CEIZ) in Anwara will usher in a new chapter in industrialization and economic development in Bangladesh.
He made these remarks while speaking as a special guest at the foundation stone laying ceremony of CEIZ on Monday (July 27).
He said that this project is not just an industrial zone, but a symbol of the long-standing friendship, mutual trust and strategic partnership between Bangladesh and China. It will open new horizons in industrial production, global supply chain, technology transfer and skilled human resource development.
Salahuddin Ahmed said, "Yesterday , on this land of Anwara on the east bank of the Karnaphuli River, not only is the construction of a project being started, but a new history of industrial transformation in Bangladesh is being written. This project is a tangible reflection of long-standing plans, high-level political commitments of the two countries, and initiatives taken under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Implemented under a government-to-government (G2G) framework, the industrial park is a long-term model of foreign direct investment. It will be operated through a concession system with a term of 50 years, with the option to renew for another 50 years.
Addressing domestic and foreign investors, the Home Minister said that the government is giving utmost importance to ensuring a safe and stable environment for investors. Law enforcement agencies will ensure security at every stage of the project and all necessary measures will be taken to ensure safe communication and smooth operations. The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has launched a one-stop service to create an investment-friendly environment. Through this, investors will get quick approvals, easy utility connections and necessary administrative support. The government is committed to implementing every promise made under the G2G agreement in a timely, transparent and efficient manner. This industrial zone will create new opportunities for massive employment, skill development and economic prosperity for the local people. It will not only be an industrial zone, but also serve as a bridge for a long-term economic partnership between Bangladesh and China. This project will play an important role in sustainable industrialization and building a prosperous Bangladesh for future generations.
Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Land Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen, BEZA Executive Chairman Ashiq Chowdhury, CEIZ Chairman Wang Benchian, and representatives from the public and private sectors of the two countries were present at the event.
