Online Desk: A delegation of the Oikya Jote, led by its Chairman Kazi Mokhlesur Rahman, Secretary General Alauddin Khandaker and Mostafizur Rahman, met with the Prime Minister’s Education Adviser and discussed the long-standing demand for the nationalisation of independent Ebtedayee Madrasas in line with government primary schools.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the longstanding challenges faced by teachers and employees of independent Ebtedayee Madrasas across the country. They also placed their demand for bringing these institutions under the national education system on an equal footing with primary schools.
The delegation leaders emphasised the important role played by independent Ebtedayee Madrasas in providing primary-level education, particularly in rural and disadvantaged communities. They argued that nationalisation would help ensure greater institutional stability, improve the welfare of teachers and employees, and strengthen the quality and accessibility of primary education.
The issue of the teachers’ long-standing demands and the difficulties faced by independent Ebtedayee Madrasas was discussed in detail during the meeting.
At the conclusion of the discussion, the Education Adviser assured the delegation that steps would be taken to address their demand, according to the Oikya Jote leaders.
The assurance has generated renewed hope among teachers and employees of independent Ebtedayee Madrasas, many of whom have been campaigning for government recognition and nationalisation for years.
Stakeholders now expect the government to take concrete measures to translate the assurance into action. They believe that nationalising independent Ebtedayee Madrasas would not only provide greater security and stability to teachers and employees but also contribute to strengthening the country’s primary-level education system.
The delegation expressed optimism that the government would take the necessary steps to fulfil the demand at the earliest.
