Desk Report: Leader of the Opposition and Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, MP, held a farewell meeting with the outgoing Ambassador of the People`s Republic of China to Bangladesh, H.E. Mr. Yao Wen, on Tuesday.
The meeting was held at 11:30 am at the official residence of the Leader of the Opposition on Minto Road in the capital.
The meeting was held in a very cordial and friendly atmosphere.
Ambassador Yao Wen was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Mission Dr. Liu Yuyin, Cultural Counselor Li Shaopeng, Attaché Ms. Liang Shuying, and Political Affairs Attaché Wang Daowei.
During the farewell call, both sides held sincere and fruitful discussions on various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and China. They expressed hope that the economic, political, commercial, diplomatic and friendly relations between the two countries will become even stronger in the coming days. They also expressed optimism that both countries will work together to accelerate bilateral cooperation, development and progress.
From Jamaat-e-Islami, the Ameer and party leaders praised the outgoing Chinese Ambassador for creating a positive environment in the politics of Bangladesh. Special gratitude was expressed to Ambassador Yao Wen for his positive role in improving relations among different parties including Jamaat-e-Islami and creating an environment of mutual dialogue during the change in the political landscape after the July Movement.
Also present at the meeting were Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer ATM Azharul Islam, MP, Secretary General and former MP Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, MP, Assistant Secretary General and Central Publicity and Media Secretary Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Saiful Alam Khan Milon, MP, Central Executive Council Member and Ameer of Dhaka City South Jamaat Nurul Islam Bulbul, MP, Central Executive Council Member Md. Mobarak Hossain, Central Executive Council Member and Secretary of Dhaka City North Jamaat Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Central Working Council Member Md. Jahidur Rahman, and Member of the Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee to the Leader of the Opposition Ali Ahmad Mabrur.
