THE CLASH IN BAITUL MUKARRAM MOSQUE AND THE SENTIMENTS OF THE MASS MUSLIMS

A violent scuffle broke out inside the national mosque, the Baitul Mukarram, during the Juma prayers on 20.924. Due this clash, at least 50 devotees were hurt and injured inside the holy place of mosque just at the time of Juma prayers.

This clash is not a new event in this holy place of the national mosque. Earlier many bloody clashes took place in this mosque on the question of appointing Khatib or chief sermoniser.

Atarshi Peer`s big Murid Md. Salahuddin was appointed Khatib of National Mosque Baitul Mukarram during the previous Hasina government. As a result, there were frequent scuffles or fights in the mosques on Fridays. Once the writer himself ran away and offered Jumma prayers in another mosque.

After the death of the controversial Khatib Salahuddin, the Hasina government appointed a controversial person again as the Khatib of the National Masjid Baitul Mukarram.

After the fall of Hasina`s government and her escape, this Khatib also escaped.  Khatib has not appeared despite several notices from the Ministry of Religion to join the work, it is learnt.

As a result, the panel of Khatib are regularly leading the Juma prayers at the National Mosque, Baitul Mukarram. During the sermon on Friday, the fugitive preacher suddenly, appeared with his men and snatched the microphone from the preacher. This led to a scuffle in the mosque between the supporters of the two Imamas. The holy atmosphere of the mosque was shattered. More than 50 were injured inside the holy mosque.

What are the ordinary Muslims saying? Playing with the holy religion of Islam again will not be condoned and allowed in the house of Allah, the hly mosque.

The devotees demanded that the fugitive Khatib be arrested and brought under punishment. Religion can no longer be allowed to be denigrated before our eyes in a majority Muslim country.

The aggrieved devotees also said, during the rule of fallen-fled prime minister Sk. Hasina, the holy Quran was put in the hands of an idol in a Puja pandal of the Hindus in Cumilla district of Bangladesh. Due to the denigration of the holy Quran, mass Muslims burst into protest of procession. Then the Hasina government opened fire on these protests rallies and killed many Muslims in different parts of the Bangladesh but there were no judgment of these killings.

People are saying, in this Muslim dominated country, Hasina government appointed over 80% high officials in the government jobs from the Hindus. This way, she had also hurt the feelings of the majority Muslim employees and disrespected their worth.

Not only that sitting on the highest executive power, Sheikh Hasina repeatedly admonished the countrymen to celebrate all religious festivals despite difference in the belief of religion. The Muslim population were in dilemma how the Muslims can celebrate the Puja or idolatry festivals. This way, she also hurt the religious sentiments of the majority population of this country. A Muslim cannot observe the festival of other religion, because by doing this, a Muslim will incur Shirk or indelible sin which the fallen fled Sheikh Hasina did impose on the Muslims of this country.

Now the mass Muslims have called upon the lawyers to file case against Sheikh Hasina for denigrating Islam and demanded of the interim government that Sheikh Hasina should be brought to book for defaming the religion, Islam and hurting majority people’s religious sentiments.
