  BNP Holds Discussion and Prayer Meeting in Manikganj in Memory of the Martyrs of the July Mass Uprising

Kamrul Hasan Khan: The Manikganj District unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), along with its associate and affiliated organizations, organized a discussion meeting and special prayer session to commemorate the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising on the occasion of its second anniversary.

The program was held on Wednesday (August 5) afternoon at the district BNP office. Speaking at the event, party leaders said that the historic movement led by students and the people had ushered in a new chapter in restoring democratic rights in the country.


They emphasized that everyone must remain united to uphold the spirit of the uprising and work towards building an equitable, accountable, and democratic state.

 

The speakers paid deep tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Uprising, describing their sacrifice as a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s democratic journey.


They also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured during the movement and stressed the need for responsible efforts by both the state and society to ensure their rehabilitation.

 

The meeting was chaired by Advocate Azad Hossain Khan, a member of the District BNP Convener Committee, and moderated by Tuhinur Rahman Tuhin, Member Secretary of the District Jubo Dal. District Council Administrator Advocate Jamilur Rashid Khan attended the program.

Among others, speeches were delivered by Advocate A.F.M. Nurtaz Alam Bahar (PP), Satyen Kanta Pandit Bhajan, Golam Abedin Kaisar, Advocate Zahir Alam Khan Lodi, Rafiquddin Bhuiyan Habu, Advocate Arif Hossain Liton, Shamim Al Mamun, Riaz Mahmud Harez, Dr. Ziaur Rahman Zia, General Secretary of the Manikganj District unit of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh (DAB), former Vice-President of District Jubo Dal Rustam Uddin Bhuiyan Babu, Kabirul Islam Kabir, Senior Joint Convener of District Jubo Dal Ziauddin Ahmed Kabir, Advocate Jinnah Khan, Convener of District Swechchhasebak Dal, Member Secretary Advocate Rakibul Islam, District Mohila Dal Organizing Secretary Masuma Khan Mukti, District Chhatra Dal President Abdul Khaleque Shuvo, General Secretary Sirajur Rahman Khan Sajib, along with leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations.

Following the discussion, a special munajat (prayer) was conducted by Aminul Islam, General Secretary of the District Ulama Dal. Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the souls of the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising, the speedy recovery of the injured, and for the peace, welfare, and prosperity of the country.

Special prayers were also offered for the departed souls of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, distinguished sports organizer Arafat Rahman Koko, former BNP Secretary General late Advocate Khandaker Delwar Hossain, MP, former Minister late Harunar Rashid Khan Munnu, MP, and Huron Nahar Rashid.

The congregation also prayed for the good health and long life of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita, MP, as well as for the overall development of the nation, the advancement of democracy, and the prosperity of Bangladesh.
