Allegations have surfaced against a local rice trader, Wazed Haji, for beating a young man named Shankar Mondal to death after calling him out of his residence over an accusation of theft in Dhamrai, Dhaka.
The incident reportedly took place on Saturday (August 15) in the Paschim Kayetpara area of Dhamrai.
According to local sources, Shankar Mondal was summoned from his home after being accused of theft. It is alleged that he was subsequently beaten. Relatives claim that Shankar was rescued in a critical condition and taken for medical treatment, where he later died.
The family of the deceased alleged that Shankar was systematically assaulted under the pretext of a theft accusation. They claimed the local rice trader, Wazed Haji, was directly involved in the incident.
However, Wazed Haji`s statement regarding the allegations could not be immediately obtained. The actual motive behind the incident and the identities of those involved in the murder will be confirmed following an investigation.
The incident has caused a stir in the local area. It is reported that the police are investigating the matter and taking initiatives to pursue necessary legal action.
