  Lion Gani Miah Babul Receives `Poet Al Mujahedi Memorial Award`

Press Releas : Renowned literary figure, poet, and writer Lion Md. Gani Miah Babul has been honored with the `Poet Al Mujahedi Memorial Award 2026`. On the afternoon of August 23 (Sunday), Poet Masum Billah, Chairman of Bhinnamatra Prakashani, formally presented the award to him at the Asia Hotel & Resort on Topkhana Road, Dhaka.

It is worth noting that the `Bhinnamatra Writers` Conference & Poet Al Mujahedi Memorial Award 2026 Presentation Ceremony` was originally organized on August 15 (Saturday) at the Poet Al Mahmud Auditorium of Bangla Academy. The event was chaired by Engineer Main Uddin Ahmed, Advisor to Bhinnamatra Prakashani, writer, and researcher, and inaugurated by Syed Didar Bakht, former Minister of State for Information and Cultural Affairs. SM Jahangir Hossain, Managing Director of Dhaka Specialist Hospital, attended as the Chief Guest, while Professor Dr. Mohammad Ekramul Islam, Acting Vice-Chancellor of Sonargaon University, was present as the Special Guest. Lion Md. Gani Miah Babul was scheduled to be officially presented with the `Poet Al Mujahedi Memorial Award 2026` at this event as the Writer of the Year and Best Literary Organizer. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, he was unable to attend. Consequently, the award was formally handed over to him today, August 23 (Sunday).

It is also notable that Lion Md. Gani Miah Babul has gained significant recognition since the 1980s by writing poetry, rhymes, essays, and columns in various media, including national newspapers. Among his published books, notable titles include Chhotoder Shikshamulok Chhora O Golpo, Shubhra Ta Chole Geche Neere, Ekti Kobita, Bhalobashte Bashte, Sidr Bidhbasta Bokultala, Neel Jole Prem, Ekti Boktotar Pongktimala, 9th Grade Agriculture Education Auxiliary Book, Kichhu Kotha, and Agriculture Diploma Admission Auxiliary Book.

Lion Md. Gani Miah Babul was born on May 6, 1971, into a respectable Muslim family in Tepirbari village of Sreepur Upazila, Gazipur district. He is the proud son of the prominent social worker Md. Ismail Hossain and the noble woman Ayesha Khatun. In his local area, he has established several philanthropic institutions, including mosques, madrasas, schools, colleges, child literacy centers, and libraries.

He has been associated with journalism since 1987 and has made special contributions to supporting newspapers and journalists. He is the Founder Chief Advisor of the Gazipur District Reporters Club, a key donor member of the Gazipur Press Club, and has been actively involved with the National Journalists Association since 1993. He has served with distinction in various key positions, including Central Chief Advisor, Central Executive President, and Chairman of the Permanent Council of this organization. He serves as the Joint Editor of Nirapad News and as the Editor and Publisher of Bangladesh Songbad. Additionally, he has been serving with distinction as the Joint Secretary-General of Nirapad Sarak Chai (NISCHA) for a long time.

He has worked tirelessly with Kobi Sangsad Bangladesh for nearly 26 years. He served as the Chairman of the Permanent Council of Kobi Sangsad Bangladesh from 2004 to 2008 and as its Central President from 2008 to 2012. Subsequently, from 2014 to 2024, he served as the Chairman of the Permanent Council. In 2025, he assumed the role of Central President of Kobi Sangsad Bangladesh for a second term. He currently serves as the Central Chairman and Chief Advisor of the Writer Development Center (Lekhok Unnayan Kendra).

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to social service, he was awarded the internationally acclaimed `Melvin Jones Fellow (MJF)` award by Lions Clubs International, along with over two hundred awards as a top organizer. He has made significant contributions to the expansion of education. Alongside working for societal development through various socio-cultural organizations, he continues to work tirelessly to assist underprivileged people.
