Pakistan, Bangladesh discuss deeper cooperation across key sectors

MM Rahmatullah: Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider met State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir on Sunday and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, held in Dhaka, the High Commissioner congratulated Humaiun Kobir on assuming office as State Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Imran Haider briefed the State Minister on the progress of Bangladesh-Pakistan cooperation in a range of areas, including education, trade, health, culture, people-to-people exchanges and connectivity.

The two sides explored potential avenues for expanding cooperation in these sectors and discussed matters of mutual interest, according to a press release issued by the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka on Monday.

The meeting comes amid growing efforts by Bangladesh and Pakistan to broaden bilateral engagement beyond traditional areas and develop greater institutional and people-to-people links.

Education and cultural exchanges have remained important areas of contact between the two countries, while trade, health cooperation and connectivity offer further scope for expanding practical engagement.

The discussions between the Pakistani High Commissioner and the newly appointed State Minister also reflected the two sides` interest in maintaining regular diplomatic engagement and identifying new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.

The meeting is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to deepen Bangladesh-Pakistan ties through greater cooperation across multiple sectors.
