  Date : 18-11-2025

Unidentified miscreants set fire to a Grameen Bank branch in Mohammadpur upazila of Magura early Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 3:30am. Fire service personnel later arrived at the scene and brought the blaze under control.

Billal Mridha, station master of the Mohammadpur Upazila Fire Service, said the fire—set by the perpetrators—destroyed important documents and office furniture inside the bank.

Sohana Sultana, manager of the Grameen Bank’s Mohammadpur branch, said unknown individuals poured petrol through a window and set the office on fire. Several documents and pieces of furniture were damaged. She added that the authorities have been informed and further action will be taken following instructions from senior officials.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Rahman of Mohammadpur Police Station said police rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the report of the fire. With the help of local fire service personnel, the blaze was brought under control. Legal proceedings regarding the incident are underway.
