But Chhatra League activist Sourav Hossain forbade him to ride a motorcycle like that in the locality. Following the incident, a number of BCL leaders and activists, including the general secretary of the BCL, were beaten and injured. At the same time, there are allegations of insulting a senior journalist. The incident took place on Saturday in the Kali Mandir area of ​​Sirajganj municipal town.
The victim, Tarash Upazila BCL general secretary Shamim Ahmed Akash, is undergoing treatment at EnayetpurKhwajaYunusAliMedicalCollege and Hospital with serious injuries to his chest and head. Besides, six more BCL leaders and activists named Sourav, Russell, Sagar, Salman, Akash and Shuvo are receiving medical treatment at various clinics including SirajganjSadarHospital.
Tarash Police Station OC Fazle Ashiq confirmed that three people including accused Chhatra Dal activists Alvi and Palash were arrested from Tarash Bazar area during the night raid.
Meanwhile, a human chain program was held in front of Tarash Press Club on Sunday afternoon in protest of injuring BCL leaders and activists. Speakers at the event said the onset of the incident was trivial. But out of the party`s aggression, Chhatra Dal activists Alvi, Palash, Fakrul and Tony Gangra carried out a surprise attack with local weapons and injured some Chhatra League leaders and activists. The speakers also said that Sagar`s father and veteran journalist M Mamun Hussain, a BCL leader, was also pushed away when he tried to save his child from being beaten by Chhatra Dal activists.
