Online Desk : At least six houses were gutted in a fire that broke out at Belaichhari Bazar Hospital area under Belaichhari upazila in Rangamati district on Wednesday evening.

Locals said the fire broke out from a house due to an electric short-circuit. Later, the blaze spread soon to other houses. Six houses were completely gutted in the fire.

Bir-Uttam Tonjonga, chairman of Belaichhari upazila parishad, said the fire broke out at around 6am at a house. Later, locals, police and army brought the fire under control after one hour of frantic efforts.

Belaichhari upazila nirbahi office Sifat Uddin said the blaze might have been originated from an electric short circuit.
