President for standing by the underprivileged section, Palestinians

Online Desk : President Mohammed Shahabuddin has called upon the rich section of the society to stand by the poverty-stricken and underprivileged people of the country and the Palestinians.

"Stand by the poverty-stricken and underprivileged people of the society so that none is deprived of getting the joy of Eid," the President told the rich and well-off people.

In a brief speech delivered on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the second highest religious festivals of the Muslims, at the Credential Hall of Bangabhaban on mondday, he urged the countrymen to enjoy the joys of Eid together, irrespective of the rich and the poor, BSS.


"People in many parts of the world, including in Gaza of Palestine, are living in extreme uncertainty with starvation, half-starvation, without medical care and bearing the pain of losing their relatives . . . We must think of them too," the Head of State added.

Referring to the heavy damage caused to the coastal areas by the recent powerful Cyclone Rimal, the President said, "Many people are unable to slaughter animals for sacrifices even if they want to do. Losing livelihoods in the cyclone, they are living in humanely".

Mohammed Shahabuddin gave guidance to ease their sufferings so that they can share the happiness of Eid.

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, he extended his sincere greetings to all Bangladeshis living in the country and abroad.

The President said Eid-ul-Azha instills the spirit of self-sacrifices and teaches tolerance.

He said, "Let`s forget the hatred and spread the joy of Eid among everyone. I wish, we can shun the corruption of the heart, violence, hatred along with the animal sacrifice.”

The President urged everyone to play a responsible role in keeping the environment around the house clean after the sacrifice to avoid the spread of mosquitoes and various diseases.

He requested everyone to give full cooperation to the City Corporation for timely removal of the waste of the sacrificial animals.

Earlier, the President and his wife Rebeka Sultana exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of lives at Bangabhaban on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

President`s family members and secretaries concerned of the Bangabhan were present there.

The President exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of lives, including cabinet members, senior politicians, foreign diplomats, valiant freedom fighters, judges, intellectuals, journalists, poets, writers, teachers and top civil and military officials.
