Nation observes National Revolution & Solidarity Day
  Date : 07-11-2025

National Revolution and Solidarity Day is being observed today across Bangladesh with due respect and enthusiasm.

The day marks the historic events of November 7, 1975, when members of the armed forces and the general public joined hands in a popular uprising that reshaped the country’s political landscape.

Emerging from a period of instability, Bangladesh embarked on a new chapter under the leadership of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

On that momentous day 50 years ago, the streets of Dhaka and other parts of the country were filled with jubilant crowds celebrating what they saw as a turning point for the nation.

The people once again heard the familiar voice of Ziaur Rahman over the radio: “I am Zia speaking”, a call that echoed the spirit of the Liberation War in 1971 and rekindled hope across the country.

Spontaneous processions of unity and victory swept through the cities, as soldiers and civilians embraced each other in solidarity. The slogans, “Soldiers and people are brothers, long live Bangladesh, long live Major General Ziaur Rahman,” reverberated through the air, reflecting the deep bond between the armed forces and the people.

The events of November 7 came to symbolize national unity and resilience, marking a significant turning point in Bangladesh’s history. It was on this day that the then Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ziaur Rahman, was placed at the helm of leadership, steering the nation away from political chaos and external conspiracies.

Following the revolution, Bangladesh began to reassert its distinct national identity and cultural pride. Ziaur Rahman emerged as a leader who embodied the hopes and aspirations of a nation striving to rebuild itself. Despite various attempts over the years to diminish his legacy, Zia continues to hold a lasting place in the hearts of millions.

To commemorate the day, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has organized a series of programmes. The party flag was hoisted at its central office in Naya Paltan and at all district offices across the country.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with members of the Standing Committee and leaders of the party’s affiliated organizations, paid tribute to Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman by placing wreaths at his grave in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar at 10:00 AM.

Later in the afternoon, a mass procession will be brought out from the BNP Central Office in Naya Paltan at 3:00 PM, with Mirza Fakhrul inaugurating the event.

The day stands as a reminder of the enduring spirit of revolution, unity and solidarity that continues to inspire the nation.
