Niaz Ahmed Khan, a professor of department of development studies, is set to be appointed the new vice-chancellor of Dhaka University.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin, also the university chancellor, has given his consent in this regard, according to a source.

Prof Khan is currently serving as the pro vice-chancellor of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) alongside his academic responsibilities at Dhaka University.

Earlier, on August 10, DU VC Prof ASM Maksud Kamal resigned from his post.
