  Date : 12-07-2025

Businessman Sohag was hacked to death and hit on the head with a large stone in front of the main gate of Mitford Hospital in the capital. Those involved in the incident are being brought to justice, Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said.

He said this while visiting the Dhaka District Police Lines and Reserve Force offices on Saturday (July 12) morning.

The advisor said that the slowness of the judicial process is not the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies. However, the law enforcement agencies are not playing a neutral role. In addition, he also called on people not to take the law into their own hands.

Meanwhile, Titon Gazi (32), the 9th accused in the case, was arrested in a raid on Friday (July 11) night. A total of five people have been arrested in this case. Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter.

Earlier, Sohag was hacked to death and hit on the head with a large stone on Rajni Ghosh Lane, adjacent to Gate No. 3 of Mitford Hospital, at around 6 pm on Wednesday. A video of the incident went viral on social media, sparking a strong reaction among netizens.
