Vested quarter indulged in extortion, occupation: Charmonai Pir
  Date : 10-05-2025

A vested quarter has indulged in massive extortion and forcible occupation like the fallen autocrat after the August 5 political changeover in the country, said Islami Andolon Bangladesh ameer and Charmonia Pir Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim.

He made the remark while addressing a students` rally at Shahbagh Chattar in the capital on Friday (August 30). The rally on `Protest against Indian water aggression and demand trial of genocide committed during the anti-autocratic movement` was organised by Islami Chhatra Andolon Bangladesh.

Rezaul Karim said Bangladesh got its independence 53 years ago. But, those who had been in power for so many years could not fulfill the expectations of people. They made Bangladesh `champion` in corruption. The previous regime killed if anyone had dared to take to the street and subjected to forced disappearance if stayed at home during the last 15 years.

"We`ve living in an independent country for so many years but we were not free in reality. We should not turn this independent Bangladesh into a subservient country. A vested quarter has started extortion and occupation like the fallen autocrat following the August 5 political changeover," he said.

Charmonai Peer conveyed his thanks and compliments to the Islami Chhatra Andolon for assisting the flood-affected people in different districts of the country.

Presided over by Islami Chhatra Andolon Bangladesh president Nurul Bashar Azizi and conducted by secretary general Muntasir Ahmed, the rally was addressed by Islami Andolon Bangladesh`s senior nayebe ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim Shaikh Charmonai, secretary general Principal Hafez Moulana Yunus Ahmed, joint secretary general Muhammad Aminul Islam, Student and Youth Affairs secretary Mufti Syed Eshaque Muhammad Abul Khair and central Publicity and Dawah Affairs secretary Moulana Ahmad Abdul Qaiyyum, Barkat Ullah Latif, Islami Jubo Andolon president Moulana Mohammad Nesar Uddin and Jatiya Shikkhak Forum president Prof Nasir Uddin, among others.
