Faiz resigns as head of health sector reform panel
  Date : 14-09-2024

Professor MA Faiz has resigned from his position as the head of the expert panel on health sector reforms.

He submitted his resignation letter to the health secretary on Friday afternoon.

Faiz said, “I resigned for personal reasons. It is not possible for me to perform my duties.”

He also mentioned that he managed to hold a meeting after taking charge.

On August 3, the Ministry of Health formed a panel of experts to reform the country`s healthcare system, improve the quality of medical services, and strengthen the healthcare structure.

Faiz, the former Director of Directorate General of Health Services, was appointed head of this 11-member panel.

Since its formation, the committee has faced criticism for including only specialist doctors, without involving public health, nutrition, or population experts.

The Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB), a BNP-affiliated organization, rejected the committee during a press conference.
