Cleaner killed after being hit by bus in Sherpur

A woman cleaner was killed after being hit by a bus in Sherpur district on Monday evening.

The accident took place in Sherpur Polytechnic Institute area on the Dhaka-Sherpur highway under Bhatsala Union at Sadar upazila in the district.


The deceased was identified as Sufia Begum, 40, hailed fromNetrakona district. She was a cleaner of the Sherpur Polytechnic Institute.

Eyewitnesses said that a Sonar Bangla poribahan bus struck Sufia Begum while she was crossing the road in the area, leaving her critically injured.

Locals rescued her and took to a local hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.

Md Jahangir Alam, officer-in-charge of Serpur Sadar Police Station, confirmed the matter.
