A female garment worker was killed during a clash between two groups of workers in Ashulia`s Zirabo area on Tuesday morning.

At least 15 to 20 more were injured in the clash, claimed the workers.

The deceased was identified as Rokeya Begum. She worked as assisting sewing machine operator at Mascot Garments.

The incident happened in the morning in front of the Mascot Garments.

Tense situation is prevailing in the Ashulia industrial area after the incident. Army and RAB personnel are patrolling to avert further violence.

Quoting locals, industrial police said the workers of Mascot Garments found the factory was closed for repairing work when they came to the factory this morning which made them angered. Later, they started throwing brickbats to nearby two factories.

At one stage, the workers of those factories locked into clash with Mascot factory workers which left 15-20 injured.

They were taken to PMK Hospital where Rokeya succumbed to her injuries.
