Many AL leaders crossed border after August 5: BGB DG
  Date : 03-10-2024

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General (DG) Maj Gen Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui today (Oct 3) said a total of 22 Awami League (AL) leaders and activists, who were against the Anti-Discrimination Movement, were arrested.

However, a large number of AL leaders and activists fled the country through different borders, regarding which BGB has no idea, said the BGB chief.

He further said, “I don’t know how they fled the country, for this investigation must be conducted. I also want to question, why BGB alone will be held responsible for this AL leaders` escape.”

Maj Gen Siddiqui made the remark while talking in a press conference organized at the conference hall of the BGB in the capital.

Mr. Siddiqui said, “Definitely BGB cannot evade liabilities of this incident, but the force can’t solely be held responsible for this incident.”

“Which leaders crossed which border, must be investigated strongly,” he added.
