Saber Hossain placed on 5-day remand

Former minister for environment, forest and climate change Saber Hossain Chowdhury has been placed on a five-day remand in connection with a murder case.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Mahbubul Haque passed the order when police placed him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

A case was lodged with Paltan Police Station making Saber Hossain accused in connection with BNP worker Maqbul killing case in 2022.

A team of Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested him from his Gulshan residence on Sunday evening.

He was elected an MP from Dhaka-9 parliamentary constituency in the last general election.

He also served as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board between 1996 and 2001.
