Stocks extend gaining streak

Country`s both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- Tuesday witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 68.66 points or 1.33 per cent to settle at 5,241.77. Two other indices also ended higher with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 20.54 points to finish at 1,924.34 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 17.03 points to close at 1,174.02, BSS reports.

However, daily trade turnover increased to Tk 3,582.25 million on the country`s premier bourse which was Tk 3,447.75 million at the previous session of the week.

Out of 395 issues traded, 306 advanced, 55 declined and 34 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

IBNSINA dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by SQUARPHARMA, LOVELLO, AGNISYSL and NRBBANK.

PARAMOUNT was the day`s top gainer, rising 10 per cent, while PRAGATILIF was the worst loser, shedding 8.72 per cent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded with the Selective Categories Index - CSCX rising 66.50 points to close at 8,898.40.

Of the issues traded, 46 declined, 127 advanced and 25 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city`s bourse traded 2.70 million shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of Tk 136.78 million.
