Five workers were injured when a wall under construction in Chittagong Zoo collapsed late Friday night.

The incident occurred around 11:30 PM at Foy’s Lake area of Chattogram city.

The injured workers are Md. Arman, 30, Md. Hridoy, 20, Md. Rakib, 19, Md. Sohel, 26, and Rony Howlader, 27.

According to sources from Fire Service, construction work was underway to pour the roof of zoo’s main gate when the roof and an adjacent wall gave way, injuring the workers.

The injured were rescued and taken to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital for treatment.

Khalilur Rahman, Senior Station Officer at Fire Service’s Agrabad Station, confirmed the hospitalizations and stated that the initial estimate of the damage is approximately Tk 10 lakh.
