Protest to continue until resignation of 5 Election Commissioners: NCP
  Date : 24-05-2025

Demanding reconstitution of the Election Commission and arrangement of local government elections, National Citizen Party (NCP) are staging demonstrations in front of Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital`s Agargaon.

The protesters announced that they will continue the protest movement until resignation of five Election Commissioners, including Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.

The party`s Mirpur thana leader Saiful Islam said, "The protest rally has demanded the resignation of the Election Commissioners. This controversial commission was formed in a hurry. The protest rally will continue until the resignation of the commissioners."

The NCP leaders alleged that this Commission was constituted hastily before the reform initiatives were implemented. "This Commission has already lost its neutrality," said NCP Gulshan Thana unit leader Nur Islam Jewel.

The NCP Dhaka city unit arranged the demonstrations which began at 12noon.

Mentioning that the current Commission was constituted in line with a law formulated by the fascist regime, he said, "We don`t want this Commission which is like the Rakib Commission," said NCP Gulshan Thana leader Nur Islam Jewel.
