Yunus-Tarique meet a ‘game over’ for conspirators: Shafiqul
  Date : 15-06-2025

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has described Friday’s meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman in London as a ‘game-over’ moment for the conspirators.

“A historic meeting between the leader of the interim government and the leader of the country`s largest political party. It is a `game-over` moment for the conspirators,” Shafiqul wrote in a post on his verified Facebook account on Friday night.

Speaking about the achievements of the Chief Adviser’s UK visit, Shafiqul said: “A prestigious award from King Charles and a 30-minute one-on-one meeting with the British monarch — it is a recognition of the July uprising and the epochal changes in Bangladesh since last year.”

He also noted: “UK`s NCA freezes 320 properties worth £170 million of a top Hasina aide. NCA officials said this was the single biggest asset freeze by the agency. It is a message for all the corrupt officials, business people and politicians. It also a highlight of what Professor Yunus-led IG has been doing to recover assets.”

Shafiqul further said that a series of meetings were held between British ministers, lawmakers, and officials, and Bangladeshi representatives — including the BB governor and the ACC chief — to pave the way for deeper cooperation on asset recovery.

“Hopefully, we can use this experience across the world. There is also some renewed hope for progress on the Rohingya issue,” he concluded.
