kamrul Hasan : After a long time, party leaders, activists, supporters, general voters and locals celebrated the 47th founding anniversary of BNP with due dignity and in a festive atmosphere in Ghior, Manikganj.
The day-long event concluded with a road meeting at the Ghior Public Library premises on Wednesday (September 3) morning and a colorful rally later.
With the participation of a large number of leaders and activists from the three upazilas of Manikganj-1 constituency, the rally went around the main road of the city and met at the upazila square for a short gathering.
Holding banners and festoons in their hands, the leaders and activists raised slogans for the restoration of democracy and the names of Begum Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.
The rally and gathering were led by Dr. Khondaker Akbar Hossain Bablu, the eldest son of late BNP Secretary General Khondaker Delwar Hossain, former vice-president and member of the convening committee of the district BNP, and BNP nomination hopeful from Manikganj-1 constituency.
Speakers at the rally said that celebrating the founding anniversary without any disruption after a long time is a symbol of BNP`s new awakening. In his speech as the chief guest, Dr. Khondaker Akbar Hossain Bablu said, "Martyred President Ziaur Rahman founded BNP with a commitment to protect the rights of the people. National leader Begum Khaleda Zia has upheld that commitment, and Tarique Rahman is giving direction in the struggle even from abroad."
He also said, "Bangladesh Nationalist Party is a party of the people. Everyone must unite to restore democracy and establish the rights of the people."
Top leaders of BNP and its affiliates from Ghior, Daulatpur and Shivalay upazilas spoke at the rally, and a large number of leaders and activists participated.
