JUCSU election results to be announced this evening
  Date : 13-09-2025

The final results of the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) election will be announced this evening, Chief Election Commissioner Professor Moniruzzaman has said.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday afternoon, he confirmed that the results would be declared around 7:00 pm.

Voting for the JUCSU polls was held on Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Ballot counting began later that night, around 10:15 pm, and continued for three consecutive days before the Election Commission confirmed the announcement schedule.

The election has been marked by controversy. Four student panels, including one backed by the BNP’s student wing Chhatra Dal, boycotted the polls alleging the absence of a level playing field and citing widespread irregularities.

One election commissioner and four BNP-leaning teachers also resigned in protest.

According to the commission, JUCSU has a total of 11,897 registered voters — 6,115 male students and 5,728 female students. Voter turnout was reported at about 67 to 68 percent.
