5 more dengue deaths, 622 fresh cases recorded in 24 hrs

Five more deaths were reported from dengue in the last 24 hours (from Tuesday 8:00am to Wednesday 8:00am), taking the total number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to 161 this year.

Of the new deaths, three were reported in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and three others in Rajshahi division (outside of the city).

During the period, 622 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total cases to 39,814 to date this year, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in a statement today (September 17).

Of the new cases, 131 were reported in Barishal division (outside the city corporation), 98 in Chattogram division (outside the city corporation), 104 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), 100 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 99 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), 14 in Khulna division (outside the city corporation), 19 in Mymensingh division (outside the city corporation), 51 in Rajshahi division (outside the city corporation), and six in Rangpur division (outside the city corporation).
