International, September 24 : Recent articles published by media outlets in various countries on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of China’s Global Development Initiative have noted that the initiative has received widespread acclaim because it genuinely benefits people in all countries. The initiative has facilitated numerous cooperation projects in areas including poverty reduction, food security, public health, the digital economy, connectivity and green environmental transformation.

A recent report published on the website of The Manila Times stated that under the Global Development Initiative proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, more than US$23 billion had been mobilized over five years, over 1,800 “small and beautiful” cooperation projects had been implemented, and more than 200,000 people had received training. The initiative has also delivered tangible benefits to people in more than 120 countries.

A report published on the website of The Guardian Nigeria stated that one of the most appealing aspects of the Global Development Initiative is that it does not impose any political conditions. As a people-centered initiative, the proposal has gained significance among countries of the Global South. Various countries, including Nigeria, have benefited substantially from related cooperation projects.

It is worth noting that more than 130 countries and international organizations have so far expressed support for and participated in the Global Development Initiative. Nearly 100 countries, along with international and regional organizations, have signed cooperation agreements with China under the initiative. To date, 88 countries have participated in the initiative.
