2 killed in Tangail road crash
  Date : 04-11-2025

Two people were killed when a passenger bus hit an auto-rickshaw in Mirzapur, Tangail.

The accident occurred around 12 pm on Tuesday (November 4) in front of the Deohata overbridge on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.

The dead were auto-rickshaw driver Rahij Sikdar, 46, from Ranashal village of Gorai, and Abdul Hamid, 60, from Deohata village, who was a passenger.

Eyewitnesses and police said that a passenger bus traveling from Dhaka to Tangail was crossing Deohata overbridge. At that time, the auto-rickshaw lost control and ended up on the highway. A fast-moving bus then ran over the auto-rickshaw, seriously injuring both the driver and the passenger. They were rushed to Kumudini Hospital, where doctors declared both of them dead.

Officer-in-Charge Sohel Sarwar of Gorae Highway Police in Mirzapur said the bodies will be handed over to their families after completing legal procedures, and efforts are underway to detain the bus involved.
