After a long wait, TT Para Underpass has been opened for vehicle movement.
According to Bangladesh Railway, the underpass was opened to public at 10AM on Saturday. Dr Sheikh Moinuddin, special assistant to the Chief Adviser, inaugurated it.
On one side is Atish Dipankar Road and on the other is Kamalapur Outer Circular Road—with the TTI Para level crossing in between. To ensure smooth movement of both vehicles and trains, the level crossing was converted into an underpass. For this, this busy connecting route in the capital remained closed for a long time.
After nearly two years` of work under the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project, this underpass has been completed. Of the six-lane road running underneath, four lanes are designated for motorized vehicles. Vehicles up to five meters in height will be able to pass through smoothly. On both sides, there are separate lanes for rickshaws and bicycles, along with wide sidewalks for pedestrians.
