  Date : 06-01-2026

Sylhet Correspondent: Sylhet, Bangladesh: The China Bangladesh Friendship Center (CBFC) partnered in a community-based mental health awareness program titled “Talk Hope for Life”, held in the Pirer Bazar area of Khadim Nagar in Sylhet. The initiative aimed to promote mental health awareness and encourage open dialogue on psychological well-being at both family and community levels.

The program brought together parents, grandparents, and students from the local community, creating an inclusive platform to discuss mental health, emotional well-being, and the importance of supportive family environments. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions emphasizing empathy, effective communication, and early awareness as key components of psychological well-being.

The awareness session highlighted the critical role families play in fostering emotional resilience and understanding, particularly in addressing mental health challenges within communities. The event encouraged participants to break social stigma surrounding mental health and to create a more compassionate and supportive environment at home and in society.

The program was organized by the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation, with the China Bangladesh Friendship Center serving as the Event Partner, supporting community engagement and social well-being initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Babu, Honorable President of the China Bangladesh Friendship Center, said,

“Mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, yet it is often overlooked, especially in rural communities. By supporting awareness initiatives like this, CBFC seeks to encourage understanding, reduce stigma, and promote healthier and more compassionate communities.”

Mohammad Kamrul Hasaan, Honorary President of CBFC (Bangladesh), also underscored the importance of dialogue and education, stating,

“Strong societies are built when people feel heard, supported, and understood. Mental health awareness at the community level is a vital step toward strengthening family bonds and social harmony.”

Established in 2019, the China Bangladesh Friendship Center has been actively working to strengthen friendship between the people of Bangladesh and China through community service, cultural exchange, and cooperation initiatives. By partnering in programs that address social well-being, CBFC continues to promote inclusive and people-centered development.

Community members expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that such discussions are timely and necessary to foster awareness, emotional resilience, and understanding within families.
