DMP commissioner stresses ethical values, technical education
  Date : 17-01-2026

(BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali today advised students to place equal importance on ethical values and modern education.

"A developed nation cannot be built without morally upright citizens," he said.

He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the DMP Scholarship-2024 award ceremony held at Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh at 11:00 am.

A total of 517 meritorious children of DMP members received scholarships in various categories at the event.

Congratulating the students and their guardians, the DMP Commissioner said education should not be limited to academic excellence alone.

“Children must be taught ethics and morality from an early age. Without ethical values, it is impossible to build a developed country,” he said.

Individuals must practice morality in their own lives as well, he said.

Highlighting present-day demands, he urged students to focus on technical education alongside learning the English language.

“If you become good human beings, your parents will be proud of you,” he told the scholarship recipients.

Speaking as a special guest, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Additional Director General (Administration) Faruk Ahmed described the DMP scholarship initiative as commendable.

He said the progress of a society depends on the creation of ideal and capable citizens, and such scholarships play a vital role in motivating students to become patriotic and responsible individuals.

On behalf of the scholarship recipients, a student expressed gratitude to the DMP, saying the programme was a source of inspiration and encouragement for all participating students.

Deputy Police Commissioner (Headquarters and Administration) Md. Amir Khasru delivered the welcome speech, noting that the scholarship programme was launched in 2017 to support and encourage the children of DMP members in pursuing quality education.

Additional Police Commissioner (Admin) Md. Sarwar, Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) S. N. Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (Logistics, Finance and Procurement) Hasan Md. Shawkat Ali, along with joint and deputy police commissioners, senior officers, students and their guardians, were present at the ceremony.
