(BSS) - US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman at the party`s Bashundhara office this morning.

The meeting was held in a friendly and cordial environment, with both sides discussing various matters of mutual interest, said a press release.

Key topics of the meeting included Bangladesh`s political and economic conditions, industrial growth, the upcoming national parliamentary elections, state reforms, and the ongoing Rohingya refugee crisis.

Both parties expressed a shared interest in strengthening the bilateral relationship between the United States and Bangladesh.

Ambassador Christensen praised the role of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in the country`s economic development and democratic progress.

He expressed hope for continued positive engagement and cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting was also attended by several senior officials from the US Embassy, including Political and Economic Affairs Counselor Eric Gilman, Public Affairs Officer Monica L. Shie, Political Officer James Stewart and Political Specialist Firoz Ahmed.

The Jamaat Ameer was accompanied by the party`s Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Central Publicity and Media Department Advocate Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, Central Executive Council Member Mobarak Hossain and Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Ameer Professor Dr Mahmudul Hasan.
