International Desk: The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on April 28 held its 25th group study session focusing on enhancing the country’s capacity for disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief operations.
During the session, General Secretary Xi Jinping stressed the importance of implementing a coordinated strategy for high-quality development and national security in order to further improve China’s ability to respond to natural disasters and effectively safeguard the lives and property of the people.
Xi Jinping emphasized that the key to reducing disaster-related losses lies in prevention and early preparedness. He called for continuously strengthening the country’s capabilities in managing and responding to major and catastrophic disasters.
The Chinese leader further stated that greater scientific support and stronger legal safeguards are needed in disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief efforts. He urged all relevant authorities to conscientiously fulfill their responsibilities in disaster management and emergency response.
Xi also highlighted the need to improve education and professional training for officials and personnel at all levels to enhance their competence in disaster prevention, mitigation, and relief operations.
Observers say China is increasingly focusing on integrating modern management systems, scientific planning, and early warning mechanisms as part of its broader strategy to strengthen national resilience against natural disasters and climate-related risks.
