Economic Reporter: A high-level 25-member business delegation from Bangladesh is participating in the 2026 SelectUSA Investment Summit in Washington, D.C., in a move aimed at deepening bilateral investment cooperation and expanding commercial engagement between Bangladesh and the United States.
The delegation is being led by US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen and includes prominent Bangladeshi business leaders representing key sectors such as energy, information technology, agribusiness, engineering, and business services.
According to a statement from the US Embassy in Dhaka, the summit—held from May 3 to 6 in Washington, D.C.—serves as a premier global platform for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) into the United States. It brings together international companies, investors, and US economic development organizations to promote investment opportunities and job creation.
The event is hosted by US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and is widely regarded as one of the most influential gatherings for global investors seeking entry into the US market.
This year’s summit holds special significance as it coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States, highlighting the role of international investment in shaping the country’s ongoing innovation and economic growth.
Officials said Bangladesh’s participation is expected to further strengthen economic ties between the two countries while opening new avenues for trade and investment collaboration in emerging and strategic sectors.
The initiative underscores growing momentum in US–Bangladesh economic relations, with both sides expressing interest in expanding long-term partnerships and investment flows.
