The talks took place between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and Pakistan’s Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi at a city hotel in Dhaka, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed a broad range of issues of mutual interest and expressed satisfaction over the recent positive momentum in bilateral engagement. They reiterated their shared resolve to further enhance ties between the two South Asian nations.

The discussions highlighted significant untapped potential for cooperation in trade and commerce, sports, culture, women’s entrepreneurship, education, science and technology, and digital innovation. Both ministers emphasized the importance of expanding institutional collaboration and increasing people-to-people contacts to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.

State Minister Shama Obaed Islam reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to revitalizing the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) as a vital platform for regional cooperation, connectivity, and shared prosperity.

The two sides also stressed the need for stronger regional collaboration for the collective benefit of the people of South Asia, signaling a shared vision for enhanced connectivity and development in the region.

Officials noted that the meeting reflects a growing willingness from both Dhaka and Islamabad to explore new avenues of cooperation and build on recent diplomatic engagement.
