Separate drowning claim 3 lives in Bhola

Three children drowned in separate incidents at Bhola`s Lalmohan and Monpura upazilas on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Jaima Rahman, 18 months old, daughter of Md. Jamshed of Ward No. 2 under Badrpur union of Lalmohan upazila; Md. Shahadat, 4, son of Md. Anwar of Ward No. 2 under Kalma union of the same upazila; and Sojib, 6, son of Jasim Hawlader of Ward No. 7 under Hajirhat union of Monpura upazila.

According to local sources, Jaima and Shahadat accidentally fell into separate ponds near their homes while playing unattended in the morning. When family members could not find them, they launched a search and later spotted the children floating in the water.

With the help of locals, the children were rescued and rushed to Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead.

In a separate incident, Sojib drowned in a water body near his home while playing. Local residents later recovered him from the water and took him to Monpura Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.

Lalmohan Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Oliul Islam and Monpura Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Mazharul Islam separately confirmed the incidents.
