Md.Jahirul Islam Beeplaub(Dhamrai Upazila Correspondent) The Dhamrai upazila administration has fined a rice mill, three sweet shops and a tyre recycling factory a total of Tk 160,000 for violating government directives, maintaining unhygienic food production facilities and allegedly operating a tyre recycling plant without the required approvals. The fines were imposed during separate drives conducted in Kalampur, Kumrail of Dhamrai municipality and Bathulia areas on Tuesday afternoon. Dhamrai Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Al Mamun led the drives. According to the administration, the owner of Saheb Ali Auto Rice Mill was fined Tk 50,000 for using plastic sacks instead of jute bags, in violation of government directives. During another drive in Kalampur, three sweet shops were fined a total of Tk 30,000 after officials found irregularities in food preparation and hygiene practices. In Bathulia, the administration conducted a drive against a tyre recycling factory allegedly operating without the necessary approvals and in violation of relevant rules. The factory was fined Tk 80,000. After the drives, the upazila administration instructed the businesses and factory authorities to comply with government directives and existing laws, while ensuring food safety, public health and environmental protection. UNO Md Al Mamun said rice mill owners had been instructed to use jute bags in accordance with government directives. “The sweet shops have also been instructed to maintain hygienic conditions and ensure food quality,” he said. He added that action was also being taken against environmentally harmful and illegal activities. “Such drives will continue to ensure public health, environmental protection and implementation of government directives,” the UNO said.
