Dhamrai Upazila Correspondent : Three people have been arrested with 150 yaba tablets and one kilogram of cannabis in separate raids conducted by the Dhaka District Detective Branch (DB-North) in Dhamrai, Savar and Ashulia.
The raids were carried out on Tuesday night (August 11).
The operations were conducted by separate DB teams led by Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of DB-North, under the direction of Dhaka District Police Superintendent Shamima Parvin.
According to police, a DB team raided the Islampur area of Dhamrai Police Station at around 7:30pm and arrested Md Akkas Ali, 52, with one kilogram of cannabis. Police also seized Tk 2,150 in cash, allegedly from drug sales. The estimated market value of the recovered cannabis is Tk 30,000, police said.
At the same time, another DB team conducted a raid in the Panpara area under Savar Model Police Station and arrested Md Bakhtiar Galib, 28, with 100 yaba tablets. Police estimated the value of the seized yaba at Tk 30,000.
Later, at around 11:30pm, DB officers raided the Kumkumari area of Ashulia Police Station and arrested Md Mostafizur Rahman Tutul, 44, with 50 yaba tablets. The estimated value of the seized tablets is Tk 15,000, according to police.
Police said separate cases had been filed against the three arrested individuals under the Narcotics Control Act at the respective police stations. They were later sent to court.
Police said anti-drug operations would continue.
